The Stories of our Orange County, Virginia Heroes | Sergeant Tyrus Heber “Ty” Tisdale – WWII

Sergeant Tyrus Heber “Ty” Tisdale was raised in the Eheart area of Orange County Virginia and attend James Barbour High School and Fork Union Military Academy.  He couldn’t wait to join the army and did so at eighteen.  His abilities allowed him to move up the ranks fast and eventually be a part of the famed 29th Infantry Division that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day.  Read this story on page 3 of the Spring 2014 edition of the Historical Society Newsletter to relive the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan.
